GNCCI-ACCRA ENGAGES NIGERIA HIGH COMMISSION TO STRENGTHEN TRADE RELATIONS

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI- ACCRA) paid a courtesy call on the Nigeria High Commission to discuss key trade challenges faced by Ghanaian businesses when exporting to Nigeria.

During the meeting, the Chamber raised concerns such as difficulties in product registration, delays at the border, and frequent charges encountered by traders. They also expressed interest in building stronger business
connections, exploring partnerships, and engaging with the Nigerian business community to ease trade under formal procedures.

The Nigeria High Commission, in response, highlighted key export requirements including the certificate of origin, auto-check processes, and capacity building for traders. They also expressed concern about illegal trading routes and encouraged traders to use formal channels.

The High Commission welcomed the idea of deeper collaboration and requested a formal letter from GNCCI to help facilitate smoother export procedures. They also shared that one of their Nigerian companies is seeking Ghanaian buyers and encouraged GNCCI to take advantage of trade opportunities.

The meeting ended with both parties agreeing on the importance of collaboration, information sharing, and the
involvement of media in trade activities to promote awareness among the business community.
